Favorite Baby Songs (feat. Mommy)

Blog_Holly_MommyShow

One of the best ways to entertain your baby is just by being you. In your baby’s eyes, you have it all. Your face it the best sight they can see. Your voice is the best sound for their ears. When you give your baby attention, you are strengthening the bond between you two. So, when it’s just the two of you, put on a show. Sing a song, play a game, tell a story. You get to be the rock star.

When my babies were little, my husband used to catch me singing to them (a lot). He’d walk into the room and say, “Oh the ‘Mommy Show’ is on again”. That was ok because we don’t get to be the star for very long. Trust me! So, enjoy it while you can.

I’ll admit I didn’t have a lot of baby song material when I first started out in motherhood. But I really liked learning some of the old standards. Here are some of our favorite baby songs:

To Babyland

How many miles to baby land?
    Anyone can tell,
up one flight and to the right,
    please to ring the bell.
What do they do in Babyland,
    dream and wake and play,
    laugh and crow, fonder grow,
    Jolly times have they.
What do they say in Babyland,
    why the oddest things:
might as well try to tell
    what the birdie sings.
Who is the queen in Babyland?
    Mother, kind and sweet;
    and her love, born above,
    guides the little feet.

    Hickory Dickory Dock

    Hickory Dickory Dock,
the mouse ran up the clock,
the clock struck one (kiss the baby)
the mouse ran down (creep fingers down baby’s arms)
    Hickory dickory dock.
the mouse ran up the clock,
the clock struck two (two kisses)
the mouse said “Boo!” (creep fingers down baby’s arms)
    Hickory Dickory Dock,
the mouse ran up the clock,
the clock struck three (three kisses)
the mouse said “Wheeee!” (run fingers down baby’s arms)
    Hickory Dickory Dock,
the mouse ran up the clock,
the clock struck four (four kisses)
the mouse said “No More”! (stop your fingers coming down your baby’s arms)
